The Creating Mind

Living in the world of constant change via technology advancement, creativity becomes the norm in the 21st century trends with respect to human society. According to Gardner (2009), in most human societies, throughout human history, creativity was neither sought after not rewarded. By looking in the past, scientist like Galileo was honored the innovative scientist but was not rewarded but rather denounced and imprisoned. individuals in that era were discouraged and even destroyed at the time of their breakthrough. This is era is so different compared to the past. Innovation and creativity has become part and parcel of the world today. In the school district, evidence on introduction of "Edutainment" environment whereby creating and blending a diverse culture to technology. At the same time, school districts that are unfortunate get muscle out of quality of education. Some schools fell below poverty region and faces the challenges of new creativity and innovations that attract multiple intelligence. Creativity invites the introduction of new commerce in education, reaching for the best and finest instructional materials to embrace the excellence of education. This way of thinking about creativity emphasizes the importance of lateral thinking, the capacity to shift frameworks, change the dynamics of education and strenthing leadership through professional development.

The Synthesizing Mind

Do we know that knowledge was imparted to man-kind through the origins of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden? Yes, that's right! Knowledge worth of information was transferred to man-kind when Adam was enticed to take a bite of the fruit from the tree of knowledge. For generations knowledge accumulated, shared slowly, and in smaller chunks so that it can be translated and interpreted. According to Gardner (2009), the "5 Minds for the future" play an essential role in transforming massive knowledge gained through information through data systems, intelligence, and trying to synthesize the information gives one the idea of looking at the big picture. The challenge is that how can one learn how to digest this information through the brain and allow this information to stay? It's rather impossible to have that much allowable space in the brain to maintain information. Yes, the information can be store in smaller chunks but is this something that leadership want to introduce in the classroom? However to master this challenge, requires a disciplined mind with constant practice. It is doable through synthesizing mind too.

Design: South Africa Girl's College

Design can deliver an environmental benefits. In the wilderness of South Africa, camped a unique college for girls. This shot is not beautiful but richly, exotic and solitude environment for young women to study. This environment is the product of "green" design where pollution is limited and health hazards are at a minimum. Why in the United States we have Prisons in the wilderness and schools in the city limits? We are keeping the "bad guys" healthy and putting the lives of our children at health risk, pollution. If you're still not sure about this design, revise Pink's studies, because pollution is not only causing health risk, "emptying pockets" but sending us "six feet deep" in the ground at a very young age....something to think about.

Play: Are You Serious?

In this tough current U.S economy, we tend to forget about the "little things" that bring moments of excitement in our lives, having fun, playing games and laughter. Overwhelm with jobs, stock market ticks, falling investments, retirement and relationships. The most important things in life, are forgotten. Pink reveals that in the conceptual age, as abundance releases organizations from post-Depression grimness. People are rarely succeed at anything unless they are having fun doing. That brings me to the next question.. why teachers in the district face this task as a challenge? Yes, the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act has crippled teachers by denying the art of learning. Loosing competing edge in education is not the smartest way of denying authorship to teachers. Something is missing here and that the "fun of teaching...." We are loosing and as future leaders this is the time to incorporate the entire six senses in conceptual learning to bridge the gap between the left brain-right brain.

The Disciplined Mind

Despite the fact that we are human beings created on earth and the most highly intelligent of all mammals there some contributing factors that we lack in terms of thinking. One of the most contributed factors stated by Gardner( 2008), that human beings did not evolve over the millennial in order to have accurate explanations of physical, biological, or social worlds (P.23).
Our minds get tied of remembering the past for example, studying history, the humanities, and arts are less tied to specific times, places, and scholars with a continues understanding through repetition we may discipline our minds to engage our minds beyond standard school subjects. That reminds me of the early college years, undergraduate subjects where memorization was part of the learning process and the contents were not perfectly understood but in the long run, I learned to adapt to the new form of learning through disciplinary programs that aided to avoid the " old habits of learning". In my professional experience, I witness this habit in the schools where young students lack the discipline mind to learn. Students, nowadays are waiting for answers to problems presented in the classrooms.

Gardner (2008), also presented that discipline is merely not focus on students and professional leaders because what we know today in terms of disciplined mind did not exist at that time. We are at the point of placing much emphasis on educational efforts towards the acquisition of the appropriate disciplinary knowledge, habits of minds, and patterns of behavior. I believe that it is time for future leadership to eradicate erroneous and unproductive ways of thinking, and rather develop was of thinking. According to Bowman and Deal (2001), disciplinary takes place under a favorable condition where it takes training and mutual interest and it is a gift of gateway to mind discipline.

I believe that it is important for individuals in the future to be able to think the ways characterized by their major disciplines. With respect to discipline mind, I have recently experienced that I must remain aware that no topic can be fully mastered from a single discipline.
